Important Information Regarding the Heartbleed Bug On April 7, 2014, a security vulnerability named the Heartbleed Bug was identified in Open SSL, software widely used to provide communication security on the Internet, including email and virtual private networks (VPN).  The Heartbleed Bug could allow anyone on the Internet to read the memory of the systems protected by vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL software.  Attackers could eavesdrop on communications, steal data, and impersonate services and users.
